A mother and her daughter escaped from their car after it became submerged in a pond in Biddenden, Kent, on Wednesday night.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service say they were called at 8.21pm to the pond in Sissinghurst Road after reports that the car had driven into it.

The mother and her eight-year-old daughter were free of the car by the time crews from Maidstone and Cranbrook arrived and were unhurt.

The car was submerged.

The crews came away at 8.48pm.
