A 32-year-old care worker has been charged by Kent Police with a second count of rape.

John Mendy is currently on remand after being charged with the rape and serious sexual assault of a female patient in Canterbury in November 2007.

Mendy, of Sandwich Road, Ramsgate, has now been charged with the rape of a Canterbury woman in Margate on August 16 2007.

Police said a 39-year-old woman was attacked in the early hours of the morning after a night out.

Mendy is due to appear before a judge at Canterbury Crown Court on January 21.
