The devoted parents of a young disabled man have won their battle for compensation from the NHS.

The Saunders family were awarded £2.1 million in the High Court after Kenny, now 21, was starved of oxygen during his birth at the former All Saints Hospital, in Chatham.

He has the mental age of a six-year-old, suffers from cerebral palsy and has severe learning difficulties, behaviour problems and epilepsy.

His parents Margaret and Mick, from Chatham, said bringing the case was all about securing Kenny’s future.

Mr Saunders said: “It’s closure for us. We’ve now got to get things in place so we know Kenny will be OK when we’re no longer here.

“This is the start of the rest of Kenny’s life.”
