Council votes in favour of same-sex weddings

GAY rights campaigners celebrated as Medway councillors voted to allow same-sex marriage ceremonies on Tuesday evening.

Cllr Tom Mason, who has the marriages portfolio, said the full council had voted for approval, and he was recommending agreement.

Only four members of Outrage turned up at the meeting. Most of the Cabinet councillors slipped in through a back door.
