Cyclist's finger severed in accident

A MAN had the top half of his finger severed after he fell off his bicycle.

The accident happened at Luton Arches in Chatham just before 1.30pm on Friday.

Ambulance crews said the 26-year-old had trapped his finger between the bike and a lamppost.

A Kent Ambulance spokesman said: "It is understood he cut the top half of his finger off.

"It is usual in an accident like this for the victim to be taken to the specialist Queen Victoria Hospital in East Grinstead to have it sewn back on."
