Darts travel to Oxford for Trophy replay

Oxford City v Dartford

Dartford travel to Oxford City tonight for their FA Trophy second qualifying round replay.

The Darts threw away a 3-1 lead at home on Saturday, following a Cody McDonald hat-trick, but ended up drawing 3-3.

Manager Tony Burman has no fresh injuries from the weekend as he attempts to win a place in round three of the qualifiers and a trip to St Albans.

Burman was left disappointed after seeing a lead and a chance to make progress in the competition disappear.

He said: “We got sucker punched by two set-pieces, one a free kick and one a corner and that was disappointing. It was a chance that we should have taken but we’ve missed it.”

Burman has meanwhile made Alex O’Brien available for transfer after the player recovered from tendinitis.

“I’m looking to get him out on loan and I’ve put him on the transfer list,” said Burman.

“He’s been out for a while and he needs to go and play at a better standard than our under-21’s. If a deal comes up that suited Alex then he can leave.

“He’s under contract to us and I’m trying to get him out on loan for the right reasons.”

Burman will now take his time to select a new permanent captain.

“I haven’t announced who is going to be captain and it’s not the first thing on my mind,” he said. “John Guest and Adam Flanagan have done well with the arm band and in the next week or two I’ll make my decision.”
