Disabled woman foils would-be bag snatcher

A MAN attempted to snatch a handbag from a woman in a disabled buggy as she waited to cross the road.

Police say the bag was in the front basket of the 81-year-old's vehicle. She held on to it and after a struggle, the offender let go and ran off.

The incident happened in Victoria Road, Margate, at about at 11am on Thursday, May 31. The victim was unhurt and she did not lose any of her belongings.

The would-be thief, of middle Eastern appearance and thought to be aged between 30 and 35, run off towards Charlotte Square.

He is about 6ft tall, of average build with and short, black hair. He was clean shaven and was wearing a navy blue top, black trousers and black footwear.
