Driver hurt in seven vehicle pile-up

SEVEN vehicles were involved in a pile-up outside the Moat Hotel in London Road, Wrotham Heath, this morning after skidding on an icy road.

A leaking water main had spread water over the carriageway which froze in the sub-zero temperatures. One man had to be cut free from his car by firefighters from Larkfield. He was taken to Maidstone Hospital with suspected back and neck injuries.

The accident happened just after 6am, but was still causing traffic hold-ups two hours later.
