Face of man who tried to abduct schoolgirl

AN E-fit picture of a man wanted for questioning in relation to the attempted abduction of a 13-year-old schoolgirl in Aylesford, near Maidstone, has been released by police. The girl was walking along a footpath in Station Road on Thursday, October 18, at about 6.45pm when she was accosted by the man.

He drove past her in a white medium-sized van before pulling over and approaching her. He threatened her and tried to drag her into the van. As he reached into the back of the vehicle to look for something, the girl was struggled free and escaped. She was not injured. It is believed the man drove off towards Aylesford village.

He is described as aged between 20 and 25, 5ft 10ins and stocky. He had a pointed nose and watery, bloodshot eyes. He wore a padded fleece top, dark trousers and white trainers with an orange Nike logo along the side.

Kent police want to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident or who may recognise the man from the picture. Call Det Con Rachel Freeman with any information on 01622 608182 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Police are not linking the case to the attempted abuduction of an 11-year-old girl in Sutton Road, Maidstone, two weeks earlier.
