Fatal road accident victim named

A PEDESTRIAN who died after being struck by a Ford Mondeo at Westgate, near Margate, on Tuesday has been named by police as 66-year-old Roland Harold Andrews.

Mr Andrews was treated at the accident scene in Canterbury Road by ambulance crews. He died later in Margate's Queen Mother Hospital. Police say he lived in Westgate where he was known to family and friends as ‘Andy’ Andrews.

Investigating officers are appealing for witnesses to the accident that happened at about 5.20pm to contact PC Dave Lavender at Margate police station on 01843 222124.

The facts have been reported to Thanet coroner Rebecca Cobb and an inquest will be held.
