A YOUNG father from Kent has been killed in a road accident while on holiday in Thailand.

Gary Plummer, 32, who lived with his parents at Wingham Close, Twydall, Gillingham, was in the Chonburi Province, near Bangkok, when the moped he was riding crashed head-on with a 4X4 vehicle.

He had swerved to avoid a bus which stopped suddenly in front of him.

His mother, Helen, said that two days before the accident, Mr Plummer had spoken to his seven-year-old son, Charlie, via a web cam. It was Charlie's birthday and he showed him a new tattoo, which included the boy's name.

Mr Plummer, a self employed bricklayer, was separated from Jo Lawrence, Charlie's mother, although they remained on good terms.

"All his life, Gary had an obsession with visiting Thailand," said Mrs Plummer. "He had been in the country for about three weeks before the accident and was having a great time.

"Gary was the sort of chap who would try anything," said his mother. "He was very boisterous and a real character. At the St John Fisher School he was known as a loveable rogue."

A funeral service will take place at the St Thomas of Canterbury Church, Rainham, on Wednesday, November 3, followed by cremation at Medway Crematorium. Friends of Gary have been invited to join the family at the Lloyds Sports and Social Club, Gillingham, afterwards.

Mr Plummer also leaves three brothers, Stephen Andrew and Paul.
