A MAN was taken to hospital early today after a fire at a burger bar in Ramsgate.

The ground floor of Star Express in King Street was badly damaged in the blaze which started at about 5.30am.

The occupants of two flats above the restaurant had been evacuated before the emergency services arrived and one was taken to hospital in Margate suffering from smoke inhalation.

Thanet Police are investigating the blaze and are asking anyone with information to contact them on 01843 231055.
