Firefighters have tackled two large blazes in Kent overnight.

The first broke out just after 10pm last night at a disused restaurant on the High Street in Rochester, which had occupied flats above it.

No one is believed to have been injured.

The second fire was reported just before midnight at a house in Radnor Park Gardens in Folkestone.

Four fire engines and about 20 firefighters tackled the blaze in the three-storey house.

Crews got the call shortly before midnight that the second floor of the house was well alight.

Firefighters had to use breathing apparatus to get inside the building as well as a ladder up to the second floor window.

The Red Cross was called to the scene to provide support to the residents.
