Flat fire is extinguished

EMERGENCY services were called to a flat in Wotton Green last night to deal with a cooking fire.

The fire took 30 minutes to be extiguished by firefighters while a man in his 50s was left suffering from smoke inhalation.

The flat was left ruined by smoke damage and firefighters were at the scene for an hour.

It is thought the property was not fitted with a smoke alarm when the fire started on the cooker at just after 8.15pm last night.
