Funeral date of car tragedy man fixed

FUNERAL arrangements for a man crushed to death under a car he was working on have been announced.

The funeral of Shane Baverstock, 35, will take place at the Garden of England Crematorium at Bobbing, near Sittingbourne, on Friday, April 2.

A spokesperson at The Horse Shoe Caravan Park in Bell Farm Lane, Minster, where Mr Baverstock lived in a mobile home with partner Ellie Johnson, 26, and her daughter Toni, nine, said the crematorium service would start at 1pm.

Mr Baverstock, known as Sean, died after his maroon coloured H-registered Ford Escort came off two jacks while he was underneath trying to repair the exhaust.

Miss Johnson raised the alarm and neighbour Ken Stickens lifted the car so she could pull her partner clear. He was taken by air ambulance to Maidstone Hospital but pronounced dead on arrival.

An inquest has been opened and adjourned.
