The funeral of the Gravesend traffic officer killed on the side of the M25 in September will take place on Tuesday.

Highways Agency officer John Walmsley, 59, was helping at the scene of an earlier accident near the M26 junction when he was struck by another car on September 25. He died at the scene.

Colleagues will form a guard of honour for John as his coffin is borne into Gravesend Methodist Church in Milton Road, Gravesend at 10.30am.

Following the service there will be a private cremation.

His family has named two charities to which those who wish to pay their respects may donate instead of sending flowers for his funeral.

They are the Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance Trust and the EllenorLions Hospice.
