Gillingham boss Andy Hessenthaler has threatened his squad with a shake-up after another let-down on the road.

The Gills took the lead at Northampton on Saturday but lost the match 2-1.

It leaves Hessenthaler’s men sitting closer to the drop zone than the promotion mix and the Gills boss isn’t prepared to accept excuses anymore.

He’s now preparing to enter the loan market to replace his under-performers.

"I may need to speak to the chairman and get people in who are prepared mentally to play home and away," said Hessenthaler (pictured).

"We’ll look around and make some calls. Maybe players are too comfortable.

"There are players out there and we have to get players in who are going to do their jobs properly. It might seem harsh but that’s the truth of the matter."

The Gills boss added: "My patience is very thin now. I said to the players that maybe it’s time for a shake-up."

How many loan players do you think Andy Hessenthaler needs to bring in? Have your say below.
