Gillingham manager Mark Stimson could hand former Charlton midfielder Rashid Yussuff a deal at Gillingham

Gillingham manager Mark Stimson looks set to make young midfielder Rashid Yussuff his latest signing after another impressive pre-season performance.

The former Charlton player scored in Gillingham’s 5-0 win at Faversham on Thursday night and Stimson is poised to offer him a deal.

Yussuff (pictured), who is commonly referred to as Toks, his middle name, played on loan at Northwich Victoria and Ebbsfleet last season.

“The goal from Toks was outstanding and he showed great composure,” said Stimson. “I will probably be sitting down with the chairman and putting a deal on the table for him because he has done that well.”

Stimson could also be ready to make an offer to Watford with a view to taking 19-year-old left-back Jordan Parkes on a loan deal.

Parkes is currently contracted to the Championship team for two years but has joined the Gills on pre-season.

Another former Charlton player Sam Long has also been involved in pre-season and he too has caught the manager’s eye.

“He has a good opportunity to be offered something as well,” said Stimson. “I’m hoping over the weekend or early next week we’ll possibly be doing something with the three of them.”

Stimson is also waiting on news of an offer for an unnamed League 1 striker.

“We hope to have that (answer) sooner rather than later,” said the Gills boss.
