Negotiations are on-going between Gillingham and former manager Mark Stimson over a settlement.

Stimson, along with assistant manager Scott Barrett, left the club on May 10 following relegation to League 2 and has subsequently taken over at Barnet.

Gills chairman Paul Scally said: “We made an offer but it’s been declined. We are waiting to hear back from their lawyers on the latest offer. It’s work in progress.”

Stimson (pictured) had a year remaining on his contract when he left the club. He had been at Priestfield since November 2007.

On June 1 he was unveiled as the new manager at Barnet and he’ll face the Gills on Tuesday, November 23 at Underhill before returning to Priestfield towards the end of the season.
