Danny East made his Gillingham debut at the weekend after signing on loan until the end of the season.

The 21-year-old Hull City player, pictured, made a brief appearance towards the end of Saturday’s 2-1 win over Plymouth.

Manager Martin Allen said: “East showed what he can do - and what a player he looks.”

East has yet to make his Hull debut, but earlier this season he made 19 appearances for fellow League 2 side Northampton. It was there where Allen first recognised the player could do a job for his own team.

“He played full-back and I circled him on my sheet of paper,” said Allen. “He’s aggressive, athletic, hungry, with a good attitude and he is a winner.”

East can play in a variety of positions, including both right and left-back, and in midfield, which is where he appeared on Saturday.
