Groups benefit from the lottery

FIVE groups in the Medway area have received more than £10,000 for new projects in the latest round of lottery grants.

Balfour Short Mats Bowls Club gained the most, £3,270, while Hands and Gillingham Volunteer Bureau gained £2,360. Borstal village hall won £2,500, Brompton-based Kent Autistic Trust was awarded £1,062 and Cousins Cricket Club got £1,200.

Phil Stevens, senior awards officer in the South East, said: "These grants show our continued commitment to making sure that lottery money reaches projects at a truly local level."
