FIREARMS officers entered a house in Kent in the early hours of Wednesday after reports that a man inside was threatening a person with a gun.

The drama started on Tuesday afternoon when officers were called to the house in Cornwallis Avenue, Aylesham.

They secured the area and spent the rest of the day and night assessing the situation.

At 12.50am on Wednesday firearms officers entered the house and found a man inside. He was taken to William Harvey Hospital, Ashford, where he is receiving treatment.

A police spokesman said weapons were found in the house, securely locked away in a cabinet. The man did not have a gun on him.

He added: "No shots were fired and no one was threatened at any time. After assessing the situation officers decided to enter the house because it was so quiet."
