A school has had three thefts of lead flashing from the roof in a fortnight.

Now headteacher Graham Bissett is appealing for the community to help protect the building during the summer holiday.

Pupils and staff at Barham Primary School celebrated the school’s 150th anniversary this week before leaving for their summer break.

Mr Bissett said: “I want to ask the local community to keep their eyes open while we are on holiday.

“These thefts have cost us £600 in three insurance claims and I am hoping residents can help us.

“We were in the process of marking the lead with special paint to stop it from being sold on but the thieves returned again over the weekend.”

The thefts have been reported to police.
