A wedding ceremony arranged at 24 hours' notice has been held at the Heart of Kent Hospice.

Dresses, suits and flowers were hastily purchased, for the marriage of Mark and Mandy Huzzey in Aylesford.

The couple had been due to tie the knot at Archbishop’s Palace in Maidstone but the nuptials were rearranged when the condition of Mrs Huzzey, who is battling breast cancer, worsened.

Mr Huzzey, who was a regular trader at Strood market and is trying to get a pitch back at Maidstone, said: “I have a completely different outlook on hospices than I did before and I want everyone out there to understand that and, if they are ever in the same position as us, not to put it off, but to go there."

Mrs Huzzey, 44, was diagnosed with breast cancer in May 2006.
