Hunt on for 'wrinkly' man who approached schoolgirl

Police have released an efit picture of a man who approached a schoolgirl.

The incident happened as the girl was walking along Shaftesbury Avenue, Cheriton, at 8.15am on Friday, November 27, on her way to Pent Valley School.

A man sitting in a stationary van spoke to her and put his arm out of the window. The girl ran to school and reported it to a member of staff who contacted police.

Police say they believe it was an isolated incident and that they are following up a number of lines of inquiry to identify the man.

He is described as wrinkly with short grey hair. He was wearing a bright yellow reflective jacket with a badge on the right hand side.

He had quite small blue eyes, a big nose, ginger-coloured eyebrows with wrinkles on his chin, cheek and head. He also had a bald patch in the middle of his hair, which was very short and grey in colour.

In the meantime parents are asked to remind their children never to go off with a stranger, to avoid taking short cuts along dark footpaths, to stay in well lit areas and to tell an adult about anything suspicious.

Anyone who recognises the man is asked to phone Folkestone Police Station on 01303 850055 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
