PC GUY MILLER: in hospital since early in December

A KENT traffic policeman seriously injured during an incident involving his patrol car is expected to remain in hospital for at least another three months, a court heard.

Philip St John-Stevens, prosecuting, said PC Guy Miller had been in a critical condition since he was injured by the Volvo estate in the Kings Hill area of West Malling on December 10.

Mr St John-Stevens said special measures might have to be taken for the 33-year-old married father to give evidence at the trial of Ricky Hales and Maxwell Lancaster, due to start on June 14.

Mr Hales, 19, of Deptford, south east London, is accused of attempted murder, causing grievous bodily harm with intent and aggravated vehicle taking.

Mr Lancaster, 18, of Catford, south east London, is charged with aggravated vehicle taking and two charges of robbery.

Neither were in court for the brief hearing at Maidstone Crown Court. They have been remanded in custody.
