Inquest opens on body on the sands man

AN INQUEST has been opened and adjourned into the death of a homeless man whose body was found on the main sands at Margate.

It is thought that 56-year-old Tony Frederick had been sleeping rough underneath a walkway near to the Nayland Rock public shelter.

Police were alerted by a man who saw the body while he was on the beach with a metal detector around 9.20am on Tuesday, December 11.

A police spokesman said there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.
