Kent County Cricket Club have revealed Bellway Plc will be its housing partner for their ground redevelopment project at the St Lawrence Ground in Canterbury.

Bellway were named Major Housebuilder of the Year in 2009 and will design and build the new living accommodation at the ground.

The redevelopment also includes a hotel, conference facilities, health and fitness centre, hospitality boxes, stand refurbishment, floodlights and retail units.

Kent’s acting chief executive Jamie Clifford (pictured) said they were pleased to have concluded an agreement with their housing partner for that part of the work.

He said: “Bellway are a high quality developer and have a first class record of delivering outstanding developments.

“We are looking forward to working closely with them as we create a ground of which we can all be proud.”

Jason Green, managing director, Bellway (South East Division), said they were delighted to be working with the club.

He said: “The partnership will allow us to continue to develop a range of high-quality homes for people in the Canterbury area. The St Lawrence Ground is an iconic venue and presents a wonderful development opportunity.”

The club will be submitting a planning application to Canterbury City Council that seeks to amend the scheme for the Bat and Ball site shortly. This will see a reduction in the number of housing units within the development and a reconfiguration from flats to houses.
