Ryan Bertrand suffered penalty despair as GB were knocked out of the Olympic football competition in the quarter-finals by South Korea in Cardiff on Saturday night.

GB fell behind in the first half but Gillingham's Bertrand (pictured) won a penalty which was depatched by Aaron Ramsey to make it 1-1.

Dan Sturridge won a second spot-kick before the break, but this time Ramsay's effort from 12 yards was saved.

There were no further goals in the second half, or 30 minutes of added time, and it was left to spot-kicks to decide who would go through to face Brazil in the semi-final.

In a high-quality shoot-out the first eight kicks were expertly despatched, but it was a nervous-looking Sturridge who saw his effort well-saved to hand the Koreans the chance to progress when Jack Butland was beaten by the final kick.
