Man, 19, charged over Rochester attack

A youth has been charged in connection with an attack which left a man critically ill in hospital.

The assault happened in Rochester last Friday after the 28-year-old victim was allegedly followed from Rochester railway station to Five Bells Lane in Rochester.

The man suffered head injuries in the attack and is still being treated in Medway Maritime Hospital.

Originally four men were arrested in connection with the incident, three have been bailed until November, pending further enquires.

Jamie Brannon, 19, of Skinner Street, has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent and been remanded in custody. He will appear before magistrates at a later date.

Officers are still appealing for possible witnesses.

They are keen to speak to anyone who was in the area of Rochester High Street, near to Nags Head Lane and Five Bells Lane, between 11.20pm and midnight last Friday.
