A 44-year-old man has appeared before a judge at Maidstone Crown Court accused of kidnap, rape, assault and possessing an offensive weapon.

Mark Forey, of Scott Avenue, Rainham, is alleged to have committed the offences on a woman in Capstone Park, Chatham, on June 17.

Forey made the brief appearance on Friday by TV link with Elmley Prison, Sheppey, where he is remanded in custody.

Judge Jeremy Carey adjourned the case until September 21, when pleas to the charges will be entered.
