Man in baby snatch bid

POLICE want to question a man who tried to take a baby from its 23-year-old mother.

The mother was pushing the seven-week-old baby along College Road in Ramsgate when she noticed a man following her.

He came closer and grabbed the pram handle trying to pull it away from the woman and her away from the pram.

The woman screamed and punched the man in the face but he continued to struggle for a few more moments. He finally gave up saying "sorry" before running away.

The man, thought to be aged between 28 and 32, spoke in a foreign language and had an olive complexion. He is around 6ft tall, of a medium build and was wearing a dark Puffa-style bomber jacket and dark tracksuit bottoms.

Anyone with information about the incident which happened at about 12.50pm last Thursday, is asked to contact PC Duncan Bedington at Margate Police Station on 01843 222 146.
