Man named after body found in river

The man whose body was pulled out of the River Medway earlier this month has been named as 28-year-old Goksel Ermis, of North Street, Strood.

His body was found after police were called to the Esplanade, in Rochester, on Wednesday, December 3, after a member of the public discovered a pile of clothing.

Police attended and discovered his body in the water.

The coastguard and marine unit got him out and police launched an investigation, but were not treating the death as suspicious.

An inquest into his death has been opened and adjourned and a post mortem revealed Mr Ermis died from drowning.
