Man talked down from bridge over A2 at Dartford

A man was talked down from a bridge over at the A2 at Dartford Heath yesterday.

Police were called at just after 10am to reports of a man in his 20s standing on the wrong side of the railings on the bridge.

Kent Police said the A2 was closed in both directions for the safety of the man and other road users.

It was reopened at around 1pm and the man was taken away for medical assessment.

Ch Insp Martin Cunningham, who was in command at the scene, said: "We would like to thank all those drivers who were caught up in the tailbacks on this busy Bank Holiday weekend for their patience while we dealt with the situation as quickly as possible with no injuries being incurred."
