Friends and family of a little boy who died while riding his scooter will gather to remember him on the day he would have turned four.

Cody Leach was looking forward to celebrating his birthday with brother Mason, who turned six on Wednesday, and also finally getting his hands on the new Nintendo DS he had so wanted.

Instead his parents Michelle Leach and Jay Large will be visiting the place where he was fatally injured and which now holds dozens of teddy bears, messages and floral tributes to the child Miss Leach describes as her “little rogue”.

A bench will also soon be put up there.

Miss Leach, 27, said the family wanted to make sure Cody is not forgotten.

Cody, of Sea View Gardens, Warden Bay, died after collision with a reversing car on Monday, April 21, while out riding his scooter close to the family’s home.

On Sunday, which would have been Cody’s fourth birthday, his family including his brothers Mason, six, and Owen, eight, will gather to remember the youngster.
