Microlight crash lands in Medway

A pilot and his passenger had a lucky escape when a microlight they were travelling in tipped on its side during its landing approach.

The 912 Quantum aircraft was coming in to land at Stoke Airfield on the Hoo Peninsula at 3.25pm on Thursday when it got into trouble.

The pilot escaped unhurt whilst his passenger, understood to be a man in his 60's suffered a minor injury to his back but was taken to hospital to be examined by medics.

The aircraft suffered damage to the front wheel.

Strood firefighters were called to the scene but were stood down enroute.

No other emergency services were called to the scene.
