POLICE believe they have found the body of a man who has been missing since Monday night.

West Kent Police issued an appeal to help find 59-year-old Martin Ireland on Wednesday, but that search has been called off following the discovery of the body in the Ensfield Road area, near Tonbridge, at 11am on Thursday.

A formal identification of the body has bot been carried out but police confirmed they believe it to be Mr Ireland.

Mr Ireland, of Elmgrove, Hildenborough, near Tonbridge, was last seen at 7pm on Monday having called at his local pub for a drink on his way home from work.

His silver Vauxhall Zafira was located earlier in the week at Ensfield Road, not far from the Hayesden country park.

Kent Police and officers from the Thames Valley underwater search unit were involved in recovering the body.

Police are not treating the discovery as suspicious.
