Young people out enjoying themselves in Rochester this weekend will see the sobering reality of what can happen in a serious road crash.

The emergency services are staging a mock crash at 10pm on Friday in the Blue Boar Lane car park.

The aim is to encourage young drivers and passengers to be responsible for their own and others’ safety while behind the wheel. Research indicates young people are more likely to take more risks than experienced drivers.

The event is part of Kent Fire and Rescue Service’s (KFRS) road safety campaign Operation Carmageddon which also involves Medway Council, Medway Police, Kent Air Ambulance and St John’s Ambulance Service.
