Mother accidentally locks baby in flat

FIREFIGHTERS climbed up to a fifth floor flat after a three-month-old baby was accidentally locked inside late at night.

The child's mother had stepped out of the flat in Weavers Court, Rochester, to see a neighbour at the weekend but the door shut behind her and she did not have her keys. She called the fire brigade and a crew from Strood came to the rescue.

They used a ladder to get in to the property through an open window.

A spokesman for Strood Fire Station said: “One of the windows was open so we were able to get in. The baby was asleep right through this.”
