ABOUT 5,000 children in Kent struggle to cope with life despite serious mental or physical disabilities.

Over the last four years the Ward & Partners Children's Award scheme has provided cash and gifts to help bring a little joy into the lives of scores of such courageous youngsters.

Now two new categories have been introduced in appreciation of the hard work and devotion of those who work tirelessly to help unfortunate children.

The Courageous Family Award honours families who have overcome or are coping with severe disability or illness in the family.

The Outstanding Children's Charitable Organisation award recognises the dedication of those charitable and voluntary groups who help such children to face their many challenges.

Other categories continue to honour children who overcome adversity and to recognise those who enjoy sport, music or visual and performing arts despite their disability.

Whilst the Exceptional Carer Award honours youngsters aged up to 16 who selflessly supports those who need constant help.

David Lench, Ward & Partners' managing director said: "Our Children's Awards have become a big event in the Ward and Partners calendar, where we invite all senior managers to honour our very special guests by hosting an award lunch entirely dedicated to praising these special children, their carers and families.

"We never cease to be amazed at the truly moving stories of each of our award winners and how they cope with everyday life and overcome their adversities.

"The award day is an emotionally charged event and anyone attending can't fail to be moved by our special winners. It is a privilege to meet our winners and celebrate their achievements"

In recent years, Ward & Partners, which has 47 offices across Kent and East Sussex, has pumped more than £700,000 into a charitable trust to help children in need.
