A dream to lead Great Britain's wheelchair rugby squad at this year's London Paralympic games has finally become a reality for Sittingbourne's Steve Brown.

The announcement he has made the team and is captain was made by the British Paralympic Association this morning.

It is a real turn-around for the 30-year-old, who did not make the cut when the team was selected to compete in the Beijing Paralympic Games four years ago.

Steve, who grew up on Sheppey, said: "I've had nights of no sleep, nightmares when awake and being nervous so to finally get it on paper that I've been accepted and made captain, I'm over the moon.

"I've worked very hard since four years ago when the coach told me I hadn't made the team and I wasn't going to Beijing.

"It just goes to show that hard work and determination can turn things around."

The 11-strong team includes five who were part of the team that finished fourth in Beijing in 2008 plus one woman - Kylie Grimes.
