A WOMAN pedestrian who was injured in a collision with a police car remains in hospital in a stable condition.

The 64-year-old suffered two fractured legs and head injuries in the collision, in Burnt Ash Lane at the junction with Hilldrop Road, Bromley.

Two police officers were also taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The collision happened on Monday after officers in nearby Lewisham identified a car believed to have been stolen from a showroom in Essex.

The vehicle refused to stop after being requested to pull over and a pursuit began. At around 12.20 the marked police vehicle collided with the pedestrian.

A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police said blue lights and sirens were being used at the time of the incident.

The car that was being pursued was stopped in Downs Hill, Beckenham, shortly afterwards.

The Met’s directorate of professional standards was informed of the incident and traffic officers are investigating.

A 15-year-old boy from Sydenham and a 16-year-old boy from Downham appeared at Bromley Youth Court today. The 15-year-old is charged with aggravated vehicle taking and failure to stop for police and the 16-year-old is charged with allowing himself to be carried in a stolen vehicle.
