Police appeal for fatal crash witnesses

A 21-year-old motorist from Ramsgate has died following a crash on the main road between Ramsgate and Margate.

Police said today (Thursday May 8) that the man, whose name has not been released, died at the QEQM hospital at 8pm on Wednesday.

Police appealed yesterday for the driver of a blue Ford Escort car to contact police to assist with the crash investigation. The man has contacted officers as a result of the appeal.

The accident happened around 6.30am on Wednesday in Ramsgate Road, Margate, opposite The Star Inn public house when a red Mazda hit a lampost.

Fire crews from Thanet and Margate stations attended and cut the driver from the wreckage.
