Police question bank robbery suspect

DETECTIVES have arrested a 42-year-old Maidstone man in connection with an armed robbery at a bank in Marden, near Maidstone. Officers made the arrest late on Monday night after releasing CCTV images of the gunman to the media.

The raid happened at 10.30am on Monday when a lone robber burst into the Marden branch of Natwest and threatened cashiers with what they believed to be a handgun.

He left the High Street bank in under a minute with a bag full of cash and made his getaway in a white-coloured Citroen.

Police have linked the raid to a similar one exactly a week earlier at the Natwest branch in Coxheath just a few miles away.
