The victim, 24-year-old Luke Marchington, died 10 days after a brawl outside the Tudor Inn pub in the High Street on June 11.

A further brawl broke out later near the clock tower, where Mr Marchington was found unconscious in the early hours of June 12. He was taken to hospital, but died 10 days later.

Police believe a fight began in the Tudor Inn public house and spilled out in to the High Street.

Police have now arrested three people: a 21-year-old woman, a 23-year-old man and a 22-year-old man were all arrested on suspicion of murder.

Det Ch Insp Mick Atkinson of the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate said: "We are particularly appealing for those who attended the Tudor Inn public house on Saturday 11 June from 7pm until closing time, to come forward so we can eliminate them from our enquiries.

The 22-year-old man was later released without charge and the two others have been bailed to return to Maidstone Police Station on August 10.

"Additionally, anyone who witnessed fighting around the clock tower may have information which could prove vital to our enquiries and I would urge them to contact us.

Police are also carrying out house-to-house inquiries and a leaflet drop in the area.

"Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact Kent Police’s Major Crime Unit on 01622 654853 or Kent Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
