Power cut hits 2,000 homes

A FAULT on the overhead high voltage network at Linton, near Maidstone, cut electricity supply to around 2,000 homes during Tuesday night.

Fortunately, EDF electricity supply engineers were able to restore power to most of the homes in the south Maidstone area before the occupants woke in the morning.

However, 93 households were still left without a supply this morning, and were connected instead to a generator while further repair work was carried out.
