TWO tortoises worth about £1,000 were taken from a back garden by thieves.
The theft was carried out in the early hours of Wednesday from Tufton Road, Rainham.
The raiders cut through a back fence which leads on to a railway line and took the tortoises before making their escape across the tracks.
