TWO people arrested in connection with the JCB ram-raids on three banks in Gillingham have been released on police bail.

The Woolwich, the HSBC and Lloyds TSB were all targeted when thieves, driving a digger, entered the town's high street at about 3.30am on Tuesday.

The yellow JCB smashed through the front of the Woolwich and Lloyds TSB banks and took one cash machine causing massive damage before making an attempt to rob the HSBC. It has not been revealed how much cash was stolen.

Members of the gang are believed to have made their escape from the scene in two or three vehicles, abandoning the JCB in the high street.

Anyone who may have information in connection with the incident is asked to contact Medway Police on 01634 884252 or Crimestoppers, in confidence, on 0800 555 111.
