Top DJ Mick Tee will reel in the years as The Rendezvous Club celebrates its 50th anniversary in style on Saturday (Nov 1).

To mark the golden anniversary of the club, Mick presented Margate Winter Gardens - which has hosted the club since 1987 - with a gold disc.

Joining the biggest party in town will be highly-rated tribute act The Complete Beatles who promises a night of pure sixties nostalgia. Steve Hill, who plays 'George’ said: “We prefer to play everything completely live, no backing tracks, just a pure live sound which hopefully captures the atmosphere and excitement of a 'real’ Beatles theatre show all those years ago.

"We are really looking forward to performing and meeting the people of Margate and to transporting them back to the 'Swinging Sixties,’ it will be a great show so make sure you don’t miss it."

Turning the clock back even further will be a medley from the 1950s with songs from Grease presented by performing arts students from Margate’s Hartsdown Technology College, which also celebrates its 50th anniversary this year.

The Rendezvous Club was born at Dreamland in 1958 and continued until the ballroom was closed in 1975. Mick approached the Winter Gardens management with the idea of a reunion in 1987. It became an annual event and revived the original Mick Tee Set from the Dreamland days.

Over the past 20 years, many of the big Sixties bands have also played at the venue. Mick Tee said: “Listening to the music of the past brings back many memories, people love to dance or just listen, it also is the chance to meet old friends.

“This show is our way of thanking everyone who has been involved with the Rendezvous over the decades from the performers, promoters, DJs, and most importantly, the fans - we have all come a long way. Let’s celebrate in real style on Saturday and make it a night to remember.”

And don’t be surprised if Mick spins Ike and Tina Turner’s Seventies classic Nutbush City Limits - it's his favourite song.

Tickets are on sale at the Winter Gardens box office, 01843 296111, priced £5.Beatles fans who want to find out more about the band can visit their website at www.completebeatles.com
