River Festival virtually trouble-free

Three people were arrested during this year’s River Festival in Maidstone.

One man was arrested on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly, one had a pre-existing warrant out for his arrest and the third man was arrested on suspicion of public order offences.

Borough Commander Chief Insp Ian Hall said that from a policing perspective the River Festival operation was successful.

He said: “Police made significant numbers of alcohol seizures, enforcing the alcohol control zone which was in place and contributed to a safer and more enjoyable event.

“As a result of the high profile and rapid interventions by my officers there were only three arrests directly linked to the River Festival.

“We will be working with the festival organisers in the coming months to review how the event was run and build on this success for next year.”
